Proverbs 3:5- 6 says, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."
Learning to trust Jesus was difficult for me as I never understood completely what God wanted or expected of me. Let me correct that. I understood that he wanted me to be a doer of the Word. I never had problems with doing. It was more of an identity crisis for me.
Knowing who I am in Christ and how God sees me was the turning point in my emotional and spiritual success. One thing I learned was that God wanted me to see myself as he sees me.
I looked in the mirror and saw many, many flaws. The motivation I had was to agressively be and act like a Christian. Say and do the right things. Be at the right place at all times. I worked hard at it. However, when I learned how much Jesus truly loves me and sees me, it was a game changer. Setting that record straight has freed me in so many areas.
I am no longer trying to be a good Christian or working hard to earn eternal life. I am actually being a Christian or follower of Christ just because I truly know him! I'm no longer guessing what he wants. I know what he wants and expects. As I live my life through him, it makes living a good life so easy.
God wants you NEVER, EVER to have bad thoughts about yourself. His son died to give us the dignity, strength and love that we so deserve. Trusting in his goodness helps us know that we were worth it all. He died because we were worth dying for.
Learn to lean and trust on him only for your entire life. Not just to pay your bills but your family, career, health and everything in between. He wants to bless you beyond your wildest dreams. Let him do it!
